hb2u -- part 1

Hi!  Eva here, and I'm so happy and excited to bring you my first post for Yumi and Fumi Handmade Crafts blog!  I have a card to share but I'll be splitting it into 2 parts, kind of like 2 mini tutorials.

Anyway, I love using my Big Shot and dies.  It's amazing how many different dies there are nowadays for so many purposes.  But realistically, I can't buy them all!  So I try to use my dies for more than one purpose and to get the most out of them.  If I don't have a particular die, I look through what I do have and see if I can figure something out.  We are crafters after all, right?

For my card, I used Yumi & Fumi above.  But I thought instead of them facing each other, what if I cut the stamped images and switched them?  And then they could be holding something, like a banner.  But I don't have a banner die that I've seen around blogland.  So I made one using what I have.

This is Papertrey Ink's scallop border die.  I cut just 4 scallops out.

Then I cut them apart with scissors as straight and neatly as I could.

I punched some small holes, added eyelets and thread them onto some twine and ta-da, a banner!  But you could embellish the banner anyway you want.

I added some felt letters cut using Papertrey Ink's alphabet dies.

Now Fumi and Yumi are holding a Happy Birthday to You banner!

Hope you'll give this a try and also be inspired to use the dies you have in different ways.  Next week, I'll be back to show you what's inside the card.  I don't wanna give too much away but it'll be a fun way to present a giftcard!  Perfect for birthdays or even holiday gift giving!

Thanks for reading!

Follow your Dreams

Hi Everyone!!

Hope you are all doing well!  We are still compiling all the photos from the Carson Stamp show and hope to have it up real soon.  In the meantime I wanted to share a little project I made with some scraps of cardstock and patterned paper.  Featuring Fumi of the Yumi & Fumi stamp I made this matchbook treat holder.

I had some left over camo paper so I colored up Fumi with some camo pants and if you look real close you can see her heart has a camo pattern too.  I have a pair of camo capri pants exactly like Fumi's so it's only fitting that I give her a pair. :)  The sentiment stamp is an AmyR one and one of my favorites.  You can purchase that at All That Scraps.   I handwrote our blog address at the bottom of the matchbook and to make sure the closure stayed put I added a staple.  Yumi & Fumi are perfect for any small treat projects.  Either together or separate they make the perfect little addition.

Here is a side view of the matchbook.  I think it looks like matches in there, but just to double check let's take a peek...

Nope all we have is a yummy Ghiradelli Rasberry chocolate square!  Better than matches I'd say.

I hope you liked my share for today.  For the next few Wednesdays someone from the DT will pop in with a tutorial or project to share.  So we hope you'll come back and see what we're up to.

A reminder, if you would like to place an order of stamps please email us at yumi.fumi@yumifumihandmade.com

Mahalo for stopping by today!
Hugs,
Leanne

Stamp info & Blog Hop Winners

Hello Everyone!!

It's soo exciting to see that we have 40 new friends here to share smiles with!  Thank you for joining our little group!

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

So sorry it's been so quiet here on the blog!  Yumi & Fumi were very busy these past few days.  We just finished up our first stamp convention as Yumi & Fumi Handmade and it was a huge success!!   We reunited with some old friends and made a lot of new ones.  Renate' & I  would like to say Mahalo to everyone that came to see us, and also Mahalo to those of you who asked your friends to come and see us!  Everyone was very excited to see the new stamp line as well as all the other stamp lines we were carrying in our booth.  The overwhelming response was amazing and so many customers as well as other vendors were excited for us.  I think we will make a lot of lasting friends.  Once we get all the pictures together we will post them for all of you to enjoy.

Another big Mahalo and hugs go out to our team, Zach & Masako, and vendors Kathy of Pixie Boutique and Jenny of Sesame Bijoux!  It was great being there with you all this weekend!!  Thanks for a very fun & successful show!  :)

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

As I mentioned last week, I wanted to share some pictures of the stamps.  There are quite a few pictures, but I hope you will see them and like all the details we took in to account to make using the stamps a bit easier for you.

This first picture is a side view of our stamp, Fumi with Umbrella.  As you can see we use deeply etched red rubber on cling mount.

On the other side you get a suprise!  The stamp's image is on the back and indexed into the cling mount.  The image is the exact replica of the rubber, so now you can see where you are stamping!  See how neatly it's trimmed?  Well we are also proud to say all of our stamps are not only indexed with the image on the back, but they are scroll cut which is great for those of you who don't like to trim your stamps.  We took that out for you. :)   To protect the cling mount we added a piece of acetate to the back.  Easy to peel off and put back on for neat storage purposes.

Here is the stamp on a clear block.  Fits perfectly and you don't have to worry about inking parts of the stamp you don't want to.

Here is a picture of other side.  I inked up the rubber side and did not have any problem figuring out where to stamp beacuse I could see her image already.

Lastly the stamped image...

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Yumi & Fumi Handmade Blog Hop & Stamp Showcase

Hello and welcome to the 1st Yumi & Fumi Handmade Crafts Blog Hop & Stamp Showcase!

We are really happy that you could take time out of your busy schedules to join us today.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

**I need to clarify a couple things, there might be confusion with the names of our business and blog so here is the correct info:
If you are refering to the business or store: Yumi & Fumi Handmade
If you are refering to the blog: Yumi & Fumi Handmade Crafts
 Thanks so much!!

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Before we begin we'd like to say a big MAHALO to everyone that has become a new friend and left us some wonderful and supportive comments.  We definitely appreciate all the support and feedback.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Today's hop is featuring the new debut release of our stamps with each designer contributing a card to share.  I am so excited for all of you to start the hop and tell us what you think.  Saturday is our release day, but you all get a sneak peek at the images starting today!  So with every blog hop there are prizes right?  Well this hop is no exception.  We will have 5 random prizes hidden throughout the hop.  Make sure to become a follower of each blog and leave a comment.  The hop will start today and end on Sunday at noon PST.  You read that right, 4 days of hopping.  Winners will be chosen randomly and announced here on Monday, July 16th.

I have one more exciting news to share with you regarding our stamps.  Renate' & I have been to many rubber stamp shows and we incorporated a lot of what stampers were saying into our stamps.  We are very proud to announce that all of our stamps are scroll cut, deeply etched red rubber on a gray cushion mount, they are indexed and made in the USA!!  What does that mean?  No more cutting up your stamps, you will be able to stamp and see the image when it's mounted on a clear block and lastly we are supporting our local stamp maker, Mr. Jim!  I'll share pictures of the rubber and indexing tomorrow.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Now hold on to your seats because you're about to meet Yumi & Fumi illustrated by our awesome illustrator, Amy Beard.  They will be debuting in their beautiful packaging courtesy of Ms. Renate' Winter.  We have a surprise for our DT team.  Little do they know, but all the colored images on the packaging were colored up by our DT!
We were blown away by their coloring that we just had to use them.
We ♥ our team!

(Because this was a surprise for them we didn't get a chance to create a list of colors used, but we will update that soon.)

Enjoy!

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Are you ready to meet the ladies that will help us give life to Yumi & Fumi?  Hehe, you might recognize all of them as they are in their own right AWEmazingly talented!

Bringing our images to life is a tough job.  We could not have done all of this on our own so we chose a few familiar faces to help us bring our characters to life.  Meet our hard working team.  They have made this adventure so easy for us.  We are so very excited and humbled that they are sharing this journey with us.  Make sure to visit and follow them if you don't already.  You will definitely be blown away by their creativity.  We certainly are.

Once you finish reading through check out the DT Survey page.  For fun we asked the girls to fill out a fun survey of 20 random questions.  Some of the answers were pretty funny.  You might have a lot in common with someone on our team.  Leave us a comment on this post to let us know who.  :)

Rosemary Shaner Bridges (DT Challenge Coordinator):

I'm a military brat who now resides in Goldsby, Oklahoma with my wonderful husband and sweet 5-year-old boy. I was introduced to scrapbooking by a friend in 1996, but a few years ago, I switched gears to card-making and 3-D projects. I love creating, whether it be in my craft room or in the kitchen...I love to cook! I'm so honored and blessed to be a part of this amazing team!

UPDATE:  Rosemary and her family are in the process of moving from Oklahoma to Texas.  You will see more from her in a few weeks.

Sandie Dunne (DT, New Image Coordinator):

Hi!! My name is Sandie and I live in Southern Ireland with my husband. I left my job as a web designer in 2004 and became a SAHM to our 4 kidlets who now range in age between 6 and 19. I was a doodler in school and I loved to make silly little things with paper – especially my school books :/ I was first introduced to scrapbooking in 2006 when my daughter was born. From there it progressed to mini albums and eventually I bought my first image stamp in 2008 – the rest, as they say, is history!
My preferred colouring mediums are copic markers and distress inks but I also dabble with pencils, chalks & watercolours. I am very much a flowers and pearls girl and love to use loads of bling on my crafts. I am also a patterned paper fanatic (read hoarder!)

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Eva Uyeunten (DT, Birthday Coordinator):

"Hello, I'm Eva! I've been crafting since I was a kid. I loved to make all sorts of things from paper and was always interested in learning how to make crafty things. A few years ago, I found my way into scrapbooking and then into stamping and card making which I really love!
I live in paradise, also known as Hawaii, with my hubby of many years and our 3 children. Please don't ask me to calculate how many years we've been married because I will probably get it wrong. It takes all of my brain cells to remember my kids' ages and birth dates, and to pick up someone from some place at some time.
I am super excited to be on this awesome DT with these talented ladies! I can't believe it! I can't wait to get started and create and hopefully inspire as well. Thank you so much to Renate' and Leanne for their generosity and this amazing opportunity!!"

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Rachel Parys (DT):

My name is Rachel Parys, and I have been stamping/card making
for about a year and a half now, I love it!  I have been lucky to be a
SAHM for my two daughters, who are 7 & 14.  I have a great husband
who smiles and nods at my work and current purchases.
(thanks babe!)

I am addicted to paper pads and Copics. (there, I said it.)
I love seeing people's reactions when I give them something
that I made myself, it means so much more to them, and me.

I have been a long time fan of Leanne's, and couldn't be happier
to be working with her on Yumi & Fumi!  I am excited to share
and learn about fun techniques we can all use for cards, or
any other projects we can think of!

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Kim Yu (DT/Sketch Illustrator):

"Hello!  My name is Kim. I am married with three kiddies.  Crafting has been part of me for as long as I remember.  I love to scrapbook, make jewelry, crochet, etc.  Not too long after my daughter was born, I discovered the wonderful world of stamping and since then, I am hooked!  I love to incorporate stamping into various projects (cards, altered items, 3D items).  My favorite coloring medium is Copics.  I occasionally mix Copics with Prismacolor pencils.  I am honored and delighted to be part of this amazing team!"

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Well, what do you think?  We did good yea?  We think so.  As our company grows we will be adding new members to the team.  For now, we're going with a small group, but who knows there might be a future DT call.  :)

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Don't forget to come back tomorrow for our Mini blog hop and yes the reason we are here, the release showcase.  The team will amaze you with their creativity and if you aren't a fan, you will be...  You will be...

Take care and Mahalo for stopping by!

Hugs,
Leanne
