Challenge #18 - Time to Celebrate!

Hello!!

We hope you're all having a great weekend and getting in some time to craft.  Today we're starting a new challenge and it should be another fun and easy one.

CHALLENGE #18 - TIME TO CELEBRATE!!
Create a CARD using a celebratory theme.
June 9 - June 21
Ends: Noon (pst)

It's time to break out the confetti, fun stamps and papers and we can't forget all those celebration sentiments.  There are lots of reasons to celebrate, the birth of a baby, a graduation, a milestone birthday, the beginning of summer, someone's retirement, finishing a marathon, the list goes on and on.  With so many different occasions you can celebrate you're bound to need cards for those right?  Well here's your chance to create one and while you're at it, might as well try to win a gift certificate from us.  :)

Before I share our celebratory cards I'd like to remind everyone about our rules.  They are super simple and easy to follow.  Before you decide to link up I highly suggest you click on the challenge info tab located at the top of the page, read the rules and then decide if your card qualifies or not.  Unfortuantely if it DOES NOT it will be removed from Inlinkz.

The winner will receive a $15 gift certificate and our Top 3 will receive a 10% discount code to be used in the Yumi & Fumi online store.

Now let's get to the fun part, the time when the DT gets to share their interpretation of the theme.  First up is Rosie!!  I know she has something amazing to share with us today...

I was right!!  Gorgeous job Rosie!!  I'm up next!  I hope I do something good, it's always nerve wracking following Rosie or any of the ladies on this team. lol...  Hey that's a compliment!  Seriously! :)

Leanne used Chase:

For my theme I made a groom's anniversary card to give to his wife...

All stamps are available in the Yumi & Fumi Handmade online store.  Now it's time for you to get your crafting cap on and get crafting!

A reminder that tomorrow starts our new stamp release previews.  Make sure you stop by each day during the week starting tomorrow to see what's new at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  Until then, Mahalo for stopping by!  Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!!

Hugs,
Rosie & Leanne

Challenge #17 All About Dad Reminder

Hello!  Just popping in to remind everyone of our Dad challenge going on right now.  Create any card or project with a Father figure in mind and don't forget to check our challenge rules to make sure your image will qualify for a prize and Top 3 honors.

Here is Denice's most awesome card!  She used Chase but he's looking a bit different, isn't he?  Denice borrowed the cap from Winter Yumi and created a very cool looking dad.  This card also opens up in a fun way so please check out Denice's blog for all the details!

This is my card featuring AJ Lion.  I wanted to use a different kind of image to create a fun card and play around with the sentiment too.

Hope this gets you all into a mood to create a Father's Day themed card!  You can upload your creation on to the original post HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Welcome Denice!!

Hello!!

Today we're happy to announce a new member to our Design Team.  As you know, our lovely friend and teammate Kim Yu has decided to step down from the team, so we needed to find someone that would be another wonderful fit to our team.  I'm happy to say we've found that someone.  You've seen her here before and we're all pretty excited that she's agreed to become a part of our team.  Please help us say a big Allooohaaa and Welcome to Denice Bartucci!!!

Here is a little bit more about Denice in her own words:
"I'm a midwestern gal who finds a lot of the inspiration for my projects come from my family, which consists of "Papa Bear" and our 4 fab kiddos....they are my never-ending source of support and my biggest/bestest critics. I've been stamping and scrapbooking for almost 15 years and am passionate about both crafts. I could talk endlessly about all the latest embellies and techniques, and find the internet to be an endless source of new projects to try. I'm looking forward to fun and creating with Y&FH!"

I asked Denice to take our survey and her answers were pretty unique. Needless to say, I think she fits right in with the rest of us. {hehe}

Wednesday Where's Yumi & Fumi Featured

Hello!!

Today it's time to feature some of you whose creations caught my eye.  Today I was looking for cards made with Chase, our resident preppy guy.  I found these two cards that were perfect male cards showing off how cool Chase looks in any setting.  Enjoy!

First up is Sheena's card:

The colors and the papers worked so well together.  I love the distress look of his jeans too.  This is terrific!

Next up is from Melissa:

Isn't this awesome?  Love her creativity and love the sentiment!  So very retro looking!

Wednesday Where's Yumi & Fumi Featured

Hello everyone!!

Starting today and every Wednesday we are going to be featuring one or more of you here on our blog.  We know a lot of you have bought a Yumi and Fumi Handmade stamp or two and we want to share your creations with our community.  We'll be strolling through blogland, Facebook, Pinterest searching for creations using our Yumi and Fumi Handmade stamps.  If you see your creation on the blog grab the badge below.  Break out your Yumi & Fumi Handmade stamps because we'd love to see how you've created with them.

Today I'm going to share three different cards that I found while hopping around blogland and Facebook.  This first card I have been dying to share for some time now.  Created by a non-blogger named Chuck and yes if you haven't guessed already he is our resident Chuckles.  The reason why I wanted him to be the first to be featured is because when he made this card he had little-to-know knowledge of coloring with Copics, card design, etc...  After he went home he sent me this picture on Instagram which he then shared on his Facebook page.  It blew me away!!

Isn't this awesome?!!  He used Winter Chuckles, AJ, Chase and Fumi with Messenger bag in this scene. He mentioned they are all waiting in a NY subway station. I can totally picture that!  Not bad for someone who only recently started cardmaking and coloring with Copics.  Thanks for sharing Chuck!

Next card I found in blogland on Lynn's Craft blog.  This is a Girl's Day/Thank you card featuring Fumi with Gift.
Love the colors she chose and the paper piecing.  The simple design with the beautiful origami crane and kanji are eye-catching.  Thanks for sharing Lynn!

Last on today's list is a card I also found in blogland on Linda's blog (Life of a girlie girl)  She created this adorable card with Fumi with Bear Backpack.

Love the layout, the paper and all the different elements she used.  Thanks for sharing Linda!

I can definitely see myself case'ing any of these cards for the future.

For being featured on our blog you three will be the first to grab our fun badge.  Feel free to share it on your blog or Facebook page.  Thanks so much for sharing your creations and supporting Y&FH.

Guest Designer Post: Stylish and Hip Chase

It's your March Guest Designer, Thanh, here with Chase; the stylish and hip!

I have always loved this image of Chase as he reminds me a little of Chuck from Gossip Girl. Excuse my guilty pleasure-teeny bopper indulgence, but the hair and the smile are perfect!

I wanted to keep my card simple and still mailable, so I kept the embellishments down to a minimum and let the patterned paper and the image speak for themselves. How do you go about making masculine cards? I'm always curious to know how everyone does their own thing. If you want to learn a little more about my process, click on over to my blog here. I'm doing a 3 part series on making masculine cards.

Here are the Copics I used for his hair, skin and eyes:

The coloursI used on his blazer, tie, pants and shoes:

Thanks for dropping by today and visiting me at the Yumi and Fumi Blog. xo t

Alrighty, are you ready for a new challenge?

Challenge #9 ~ Punches or Dies (2/3/13, Midnight PST - 2/15/13 Noon PST)
It's pretty self explanatory, use either a punch, die or both on your creation.  Doesn't matter how many you use as long as we can see it.  If we see a Y&FH image on your creation you will get 2 chances to play.  If you don't have a Y&FH image yet you can still participate by using any stamp from our list of Friends of Yumi & Fumi companies.  They include Sister StampsLa-La Land Crafts, and The Greeting Farm!!
I'm sure you have at least one of those to work with. :)
Check out the prize up for grabs...

Next up we've got some samples to share and inspire you.  Today GD Denice, Rosemary, Renate' and myself are sharing.  Eva, Kim and Sandie will pop in over the next 12 days to share their samples.

First up is
February Guest Designer, Denice Bartucci using Fumi with Messenger Bag
I spy a border punch and an oval die.   Lovin' all the pretty bling and the gorgeous papers.   Two of my favorite parts about this is Fumi's pink hair and that adorable border inside the oval!!   Me likey!!

Here is my card featuring Fumi Panda and looks like she's got some little friends playing HIde-n-seek.   I call this one, "Hangin' with my Gnomies!" {hehehe} I used various Spellbinder circles, Stampin' Up circle punches and C.C. Design Cutters Bubble Alpha letter dies.

I don't know about you but Chase is looking pretty good here.  Now I spy a gorgeous heart banner die from La-La Land Crafts and a MS border punch.  So totally cool!!

Lookee, lookee at all the pretty greens and yellows on Renate's card.  I spy lovely colored ginkgo punched leaves.  It's beautiful!!

Alrighty, now it's your turn to play.  You have until Friday, 2/15/13 at Noon (PST) to link up your project.  ONE entry per participant and you must link directly to your post and not your blog. All challenge details can be found in the Challenge info tab at the top of our Home page.

Before I sign off, a reminder to come and LIKE us on our FB page.  We're trying to reach 200 likes and once we do, we're giving a way a stamp or two.  So lots of places to look for a chance to win some cuteness.

Have fun and we can't wait to see what punches and dies you use for your project.

Hugs,
Leanne and the Yumi & Fumi Handmade Team
