CH #18 - Time to Celebrate!

Good morning!!

As this post is late, it's going to be short and sweet! J

A reminder that tomorrow is the last day to link up for:
Challenge #18 - Time to Celebrate
Create a celebratory card for any occasion.

We've received some beautiful cards so far with all kinds of wonderful themes for celebrating.  Keep 'em coming!  Today I'm sharing my card featuring Fumi with Turtle from the Peek-a-Book Spring series.  You can purchase her in our online store along with any of our stamp series.  (We also carry the Sister Stamps line and we have all the new stamps in the store.)

I had a little bit of fun with some cute bright papers, the color red and a CAS layout.

When making this card I was going for something that could be used for almost any celebration.  By using the bright fun cardstock, banner and the word "celebrate" helped to achieve my goal.
I hope I was able to inspire you with something fun today.

Don't forget the challenge ends tomorrow at noon, pst.  The winner will receive a $15 gift certificate and the Top 3 will receive a 10% discount on their shopping cart to our online store.  Either would come in handy since we've got some new stamps in.

If you're unsure if your card qualifies just click on the tab at the top labeled Challenge Info and you can verify it.  We would rather you be sure before linking up instead of sad that your card had to be deleted because it doesn't follow our rules.

Thanks for dropping in today.  Stop by tomorrow for Friday's Where's Yumi & Fumi, who knows you may be spotlighted!

Have a great day!!

Challenge #18 CONGRATS! Reminder

Happy Sunday!
Happy Father's Day!
Happy Y&FH Hang Loose release day (one day late!)
*****************************
Eva and I have gotten together to remind everyone about the CONGRATS! challenge that is in progress here at Y&FH.

Eva's card using Winter Yumi

Oh my, don't you just love this card!  If the rainbow colored dots don't make you happy, then Yumi's blue eyes and snazzy blue cap definately will!  If you head over to Eva's blog  you can get all of the details on this happy card.

I couldn't resist using the sentiments from the newly released Tiki Surf Set to create a card for someone who just bought a new car. I also think this would be easy to alter for a newly licensed driver with a gas card attached instead of the deodorizer.

Here are just a few small details about this challenge:
CHALLENGE #18 - CONGRATS!
Create a CARD using a congratulatory theme.
June 9 - June 21
Ends: Noon (pst)

Thanks for stopping by Y&FH today!

Hang Loose Preview - Aloha Honu set

Happy Aloha Friday everyone & Happy Flag Day!!

Today is the last day of previews for the new Hang Loose series.  We hope you've enjoyed them as much as we've enjoyed sharing them with you.  For our last preview showcase I am going to share our beautiful Aloha Honu set.  If you are unfamiliar with the term honu, it is the Hawaiian word for turtle.  When I think of Hawaii I think not only of good food, beautiful people, breathtaking beaches, but I also think of cute sea turtles.  We asked our awesome illustrator to create some beautiful honu for this release and she did not disappoint. This set includes 5 stamps.  Two beautiful sea honu, one sentiment and two lotus flowers (designed by our very own Renate' Winter).  We know that most of you will have so much fun with this set, just as we all have.

As with the Tiki set, these are another set of stamps that are not scroll-cut or indexed as our usual stamps are, however they are still of the best quality, you will just have to work a little bit harder to stamp with them.

Well what do you think?  I have a feeling this is going to be a fun set of stamps to play with.  Below are samples from Eva, Denice and myself created just for today's preview, as you scroll through think of the Little Mermaid song, "Under the Sea" because that is truly what some of these are, under the sea... (LOL):

Eva created this beautiful shaker card featuring a wonderful underwater scene with ALL the stamps:

This is something I could definitely picture seeing IRL.  A beautiful use of all the stamps!
Gorgeous card Eva!!

Next up is Denice with this awesome display featuring the Lotus Flowers
(Also shown are Summer Chuckles & The Hang Loose retro icons)

Oh yea! This is sooo cool!! Denice really knows how to showcase the images.  This is awesome!!

Leanne used a combination of Honu #1 and the Aloha sentiment:

Leanne also made a washi tape shaker card with Honu #2 and the Lotus flowers:

Hehehe pretty cool yea?  We thought these were the perfect ending to a week long preview.  We hope you've enjoyed our showcase.

If you'd like to win this stamp set:
1. Leave us a comment here and on any of the featured DT blogs, if the DT member does not have anything posted on their blog don't worry just leave a comment on the ones that do.
2. Become a follower of our blog (if you already aren't)
3. Link up below

If we reach a minimum of 25 links or more we'll gift-a-way 1 Aloha Honu stamp set to one of you lucky crafters.  To make sure we reach that number share this direct link post on your blog, Facebook, with your friends and family.  The collection will close on Sunday, June 16th at 10:00am pst and IF we reach 25 links or over the winner will be announced on Monday.

Mahalo for stopping by and don't forget release day is tomorrow that means the stamps will be in the store!!

Until then... Aloooohaaa!!

Hang Loose Preview - Tiki Surf set

Aloha everyone!

Welcome to day 4 of previews for our Hang Loose stamps release.

In a few days you will be able to purchase all of the stamps in this new release.

All the stamps will be available on Saturday, June 15th in our online store.

Today I will be showcasing something brand new to Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  We've added sets of stamps that can be used as accessories or on their own to our collection.  Each set is made of deeply etched red rubber on to cling mount for nice even stamping and ALL made in the USA.  The only difference with these stamps are that they will not be scroll cut or indexed as our other stamps are, but the quality of the stamp is still the same.

For this release we have two sets with multiple images, I'll share the second one tomorrow, but for today I will be sharing samples from our TIKI SURF set.  In keeping with our Hang Loose theme we decided to go with some all time favorite "icons" that tie in to the whole Hang Loose theme.  Illustrated by our amazing artist, included in this set are 2 surfboards (a long and short board), a tiki, a honu ohana that can be used as a border or on its own,  two Hang Loose symbols and 3 sentiments.

This set is perfect for the consummate surfer or water sport fan, but can also be used for any fun occasion and of course go really well with any of the other stamps.  Here are just a few of the different projects created with this 4x6 set:

Eva created this awesome tag featuring Tiki and the smaller Hang Loose icon
(Also shown: the new Lotus flower)

Leanne's got a few cards featured below first up are the Long & Short boards, and the Sweet Ride sentiment:

Here's one with the Petroglyph honu:

Last up is this 4x4 card featuring the larger sized Hang Loose icon with a cool surprise:

Click on the video to see the surprise:

Hehehe pretty cool yea?  We thought these were the perfect Tiki Surf images that would go well with the rest of the stamps in this series and we hope you do too.

If you'd like to win this stamp set :
1. Leave us a comment here and on any of the featured DT blogs
2. Become a follower of our blog (if you already aren't)

Hang Loose Preview - Summer Yumi

SALE ALERT!!  IN HONOR OF FATHER'S DAY ALL YUMI & FUMI HANDMADE IMAGES WITH BOYS IN THEM ARE NOW ON SALE IN THE Y&FH ONLINE STORE. THE SALE DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY SISTER STAMPS.  SALE ENDS ON FATHER'S DAY, JUNE 16th.

Aloha everyone!!

Welcome to the first day of previews for our new Hang Loose Release.  We're going to be spotlighting these new stamps for the next five days and on Saturday, June 15th they will all be available for purchase at the Yumi & Fumi Handmade online store.  We hope you'll come back daily, because there will be a chance for prizes.  More about that at the end of this post.

How about a little background on this new release?

When Renate' and I were coming up with the concept for this release we knew we wanted to tie in something from Hawaii this time.  One of the most iconic symbols or hand gestures you see around the islands is the "shaka sign".  Click here to see the different origins and meanings.  I guess you could say it looks like the sign for I love you, but with all three fingers (index, middle and ring) down.  What I love best about the meaning is that it can be used in so many different ways.  To convey the Aloha Spirit, or just an easy way to say hi, howzit or how's it going?!   We also wanted to incorporate some other fun aspects that we love about Hawaii so you'll see those later on in the week.

Starting off today's showcase we've got our first stamp in the new series, Summer Yumi.  Some of the DT is sharing their creations, make sure to head on over to their blogs to leave them some love. :)

Eva's card featuring Summer Yumi
(Also included are the shaka sentiment and the new lotus flowers)

Leanne's card featuring Summer Yumi:

Isn't she awesome?!  Her pigtails are fun and her slippas are soo cute.  It's the little details I love about this stamp. :)
Pretty sweet yea? Well if you think so:

Happy Aloha Friday and I think I'll have a donut for an afternoon snack! (hehe) Have a great day!!
