Tri shutter card tutorial by Blankina

Hi all,

I am so happy to share my first tutorial with you at Yumi & Fumi!!
Do you like the card above?? Would you like to make one??
It is a tri shutter card.
It is fun to make, I have seen different tutorials in blog land and this is mine.

You will need the following:

cardstock of choice size A 4  ( 29, 5 cm x 21 cm )
design papers
scissors
glue
ruler
pencil
cutter
scoreboard  ( I have used my multi-pro from crafter's companion )
stamps and decorations of choice

step 1:
Out of the A4 cardstock you will need to lightly mark

the long side at 5cm  -  10 cm  - 19,5 cm  - 24, 5 cm
the short side at 4 cm - 11 cm
the remaining piece needs to be removed

step 2:
this is what you get
now cut along the red lines ( see step 1 )

step 3:
score the lines
up fold and down folds
 ( see step 1 )

step 4:
your card should look like this afterwards

step 5:
bend the folds

step 6:
cut design paper pieces to decorate the tri shutter card

9, 5 cm x 6 cm  = 2 pieces
9 cm x 6 cm = 1 piece
9 cm x 3, 5 cm = 2 pieces
4,5 cm x 3, 5 cm =  8 pieces
( I have used two different papers, 4 pieces of design paper and
4 pieces of marbled papers which I have embossed )

step 7:
glue it onto the tri shutter card like this

step 8:
I have embellished the tri shutter card with Yumi & Fumi stamps
 and some dies and ribbon
What do you think??

the closed tri shutter card fits into a normal C 6 envelope

my recipe:
stamp Yumi & Fumi ( here ), swirls stamp Kaisercraft, floral stamp Marianne Design,
sentiment stamp The Greeting Farm, hexagon die Nellie Snellen, butterfly die Sizzix,
design papers Marianne Design, foil art cardstock , embossing folder, ribbon, strass

Hope you have enjoyed my little tutorial, is it all clear to you?
If you have questions or comments do not hesitate to leave a  message on my BLOG.

Cannot wait to see your cards!
THANKS!

Pretty in Pink

I had so much fun coloring a 'different' color hair last week I decided to do it again this week.  I opted for pink this time!  I colored Yumi with my Spectrum Noir markers after stamping her using IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink in Tuxedo Black on Ultra Smooth white card stock.  Here are the colors I used:

Shirt/Shoes: CG1, CG2, CG3 (heart PP2, PP4)
Pants: GB10, EB5, EB8
Hair: PP2, PP4, PP5
Skin: FS2, FS3, FS9 (CR3 in ear)
Eyes: TN3, TN4

I also thought I'd give her a bit of eyeshadow (CG2) to make her super sassy :) I paired the colored image with Authentique's 'Lively' paper, and tied on a pink ribbon topped with a cream bow.

People often ask me what order I color an image in.  It really doesn't matter, ultimately, but I usually do clothing (shirt first), then hair, and skin last.  But it's a personal choice!

Door hanger tutorial by Cebelica

Hi there! Cebelica here today. I'm really happy you stopped by our blog today and I hope you will like the project I'm about to share with you. I decided to make a door hanger tutorial.

For starters let's check what you will need ...

So, as you can see you will need  piece of white cardstock and some design papers of your choice, scalloped circle and circle dies, your favourite Yumi and Fumi Handmade stamp (I used Yumi) and some embellishments of your choice.

First thing you will need to do is to cut your papers. I used a 10 x 20 cm white cardstock as a base then I cut each layer 5 cm smaller. I also distressed the edges with my scissors and TH distress ink, but that's optional. You should end up with something like this.

Then glue the papers together. You can use the "normal" glue, but I prefer to use sticky tape.

Once you've done this, take your scalloped circle die to cut a scalloped circle from a piece of paper and glue it on top (in the middle) of your door hanger base.

Now place your door hanger base on your cutting machine and put the circle die on the scalloped circle. Like this ...

And here's what you will end up with ...

Voila, your door hanger base is complete. Now you just need to decorate it however you want. :) Here's what mine turned out ...

I hope you like it and that you will give this a try. Also, don't forget about the photo inspiration challenge. We'd love to see your creations so we hope you will come and play with us. :) And remember, even though we'd loooooove seeing your creations using Yumi and Fumi stamps, it's not a requirement to use them to enter the challenge.

Hugs! xx

Simply Amazing

My darling daughter started third grade yesterday, and I'm not even going to pretend I'm not emotional about it.  Our summer absolutely flew by - it felt like we were always going somewhere (because we were).  It was a big summer for my girl, too.  She mastered riding her bike with no training wheels, went to soccer camp, and discovered a deep love of Greek mythology. I'm so proud of all of these milestones, and I try not to get all weepy in front of her (but silently I'm freaking out that she'll turn eight in a month!).

When I sat down to make her a card for her lunch on her first day of school, I knew it had to be special.  In her school, third grade is when everything gets a bit different.  She changes classes, grades get tougher, and has standardized testing.  She's nervous. And I just want her to never, ever forget how truly amazing she is.

That's where this fun Yumi and Fumi Handmade stamp, Yumi w/ Bookbag, came in.  I stamped it on Ultra Smooth White card stock with an IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento™ Dye Ink full-size inkpad in Tuxedo Black.  I colored it to coordinate with my patterned paper, using my Spectrum Noir pens:

Skirt/Shoes: PP3. PP5. DR5
Shirt/Socks: GB4, GB6, GB8
Bag: BG4, BG6, BG2
Skin: FS9, FS3, FS2, CR3
Eyes: GB8, EB3
Hair: DG3, CG2, CG1

I added a wonderful sentiment that tells her exactly what I want her to know, and a few bits of pink bling.  I'm a giant fan of the green hair - I'll be using this fun combo again soon!

THURSDAY TUTORIAL WITH AUDREY:)

Hi everyone, it's Audrey from Team Fumi here with my first post on the blog since joining the awesome Yumi & Fumi Handmade DT!!  Today I am sharing a quick project idea that I had after finding Fumi with Turtle stamp at YUMI & FUMI HANDMADE SHOP.  This stamp is from the Peek-A-Boo series and I pictured Fumi looking out from a door, so I decided to make one for her to stand behind.

First I cut out a piece of cardstock, and then I used my score pal to make the hinge part of the door by scoring in about 1/2 inch.

Next I chose my Nesties for windows in the door - I decided 1 at the top and 3 below.

After cutting the windows, I trimmed my piece of Magic Mesh, which is already pre-sticky

and then adhered it to the inside.  I love the way it turned out, but decided I wanted some more personality for the door, so I found some SU DP and added the windows by lining it up with my already cut out door.

I think it looks a lot better with the additional designed paper over top.  Then, I added it to my base card, where I also used SU papers.  I added a brad from Bo Bunny for the door knob.

Then I added my Copic colored Yumi with Turtle stamp that I cut out with scissors as well as this cute sentiment from Jaded Blossom, which is cut with Nestie.  Bling from Mark Richards rounds out my creation.  I sure hope you like it and that you found my tutorial helpful.

Hugs!!

Panda Goes to School

Hi everyone! It's Taylor here again today, and  I'm excited to be back with another fun post this week!

Ok, seriously - HOW cute is this Fumi Panda image from Yumi & Fumi Handmade?  Really, all of this stamps in the Kigurumi Kids series are adorable, and they ALL need to come live with me.  Soon.  Really, really soon!  But I started my collection with this panda, because we have a lot of love for pandas in this house.  Kung Fu Panda was the first movie we ever to our daughter to in the movie theater, way back when.  And I brought my son a panda bear stuffed animal back from a trip to England earlier this year, and he never goes to bed without it.

I colored this cutie up with my Spectrum Noir markers and paired him with some fun school-themed paper from My Mind's Eye.  My daughter heads back to school in a week (a WEEK?!?!!), and I need to build up my stash of cards to put in her lunch every day!

Last week I promised step-by-step coloring pics, but thanks to the weather they just didn't turn out well. I'll try again for next week!

Panda suit: IG10, IG8, IG6, IG4, IG2, IG1, blender
Skin: FS9, FS8, FS3, FS2, CR3
Eyes: IB4, IB2
Hair: GB8, GB10, EB3, EB5

A couple of coloring tips:
-  Work in small areas, and complete the image in sections.  This helps the colors blend together well
-  Don't leave white areas uncolored.  Using a very light grey go around the outer edge.  The soften the harsh edge of that line with the blender pen.

I'd love for you to stop by my blog to see what else I've been up to!  And if you haven't played along in the current 'Anything Goes' challenge, you totally should! You could win a $15 gift certificate to the store, or a 10% discount code!
