Mahalo Kim!

Morning friends,

Today we have mixed emotions here at Yumi & Fumi Handmade.  Our dear friend and fellow teammate, Kim Yu, has decided to step down from the team to concentrate on her growing little family.  She will always be a part of the Yumi & Fumi ohana and who knows you might see her popping in here and there in the future.  For now, we say MAHALO and ALOOOOHAAA but never good-bye!
Here are some of her beautiful projects that we will always be in awe of:

Kim's card featuring Fumi with Turtle

As a small Thank you I decided to case Kim's card featuring Fumi with Turtle.  (See above card)

On behalf of Renate', Zach, myself and the rest of the team, Mahalo and Aloha Kim, you will always be a part of our ohana.  Thank you for being a part of bringing our images to life.  Make sure you become a follower of Kim's awesome blog so you can keep up with her, we sure plan to.

With Kim's departure we are happy to say we have someone who we know will be a great fit for our team.  You'll get to meet this person tomorrow.

Until then, have a fabulous day!!

Thank you for stopping by!

xx,
Leanne

REMINDER: Challenge #13 Case'ing Eva (ME!) Plus a Tutorial!

Hello!  Did everyone enjoy the awesomely cute Peek-a-Boo Spring Release??  Do you have a favorite?  If you can't decide, you can pick them all up at a special bundle price but only til Monday, April 8th at 5 PM PST.  Check them out at the Yumi and Fumi Handmade store!

Well, we also currently have a challenge going on.  It's case'ing the little post it easel card that I made below.

Now you don't have to make one of these exactly to enter the challenge.  Use whatever elements inspire you, the layout, colors, Asian theme, flowers, etc.  Don't forget to also use a qualifying stamp -- Yumi & Fumi Handmade, The Greeting Farm, Sister Stamps, La-La Land Crafts, and now Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps too!  But if you do use a Yumi & Fumi Handmade stamp, you'll get another entry into the challenge.

I love Kim's pretty and scenic version!  Please visit her blog for the details!

This is also a Post-It Easel Card and I thought I'd share a quick tutorial for it just in case you do want to make something like this for the challenge.

Gather your basic materials:
 11 x 5.25 inch cardstock
5.25 x 5.25 inch cardstock (front of your easel card that you can decorate)
4 x 4 inch cardstock (box for Post-It pad)
3 x 3 inch Post-It note pad

Score your long cardstock at 5.25 inches, 5.75 inches and 8.25 inches.

After you fold them at the score lines, it should look like this.  Place on the side.  Don't mind all the messy stuff on my table!

Next, get your 4 x 4 inch piece and score a half inch on all sides.  Then punch a little semi circle on one of the sides.  You can use a small circle die to make a partial cut too.

Fold at the creases, then cut the little corners to make into a box.

It should look like this.  Fit your Post-It pad into it.  It will be snug.  You can adjust the measurements a little bit if it's too snug for you.  I kind of like it that way so it doesn't fall out.

When you lay out all the pieces together, it should generally look like this.

Be sure to tape just the half as in the photo to attach the front of the easel card.

All done!  Hope this tutorial helps!

You can link up your creations on the original Challenge #13 post HERE.  While you are there, check out the awesome prize package that is up for grabs!  You have unitl Friday, April 12th to link up your creations.

Thanks for stopping by!

Challenge #11 - Final Reminder

Morning!

Today Sandie and I wanted to share our cards for the current challenge.  We'd also like to remind you that you have until Friday, March 15 (which is tomorrow) to link up your card.  The entries that are in so far are really awesome!!  Love the diversity of everyone's take on Kim's sketch.  You've already seen samples from the rest of our team, including our guest designer, Thanh Vo.  Now it's our turn to share the spotlight.  For all the details on the challenge click on the picture of the sketch in the upper right sidebar.  We hope more of you will come and play. :)

I'm up first and my card was inspired by some upcoming birthday's.  I have been needing more boy type birthday cards, and the sketch was perfect to use.

As you can see I flipped the sketch, but all the elements are still there.

Here's a reminder of what the prize looks like:

Challenge #11 - Kim's Sketch #2

Good morning everyone and Happy Sunday!!

Today is day one of Challenge #11 and this time around we have a wonderful sketch created by Kim Yu.

Feel free to flip the sketch or substitute different shapes.  We'd just like to see you incorporate this layout in your project.  For those of you who don't own a Yumi and Fumi Handmade stamp yet you can still play along.  If you have any of the following images from La-La Land Crafts, The Greeting Farm or Sister Stamps you can play.  However if you do happen to use a Yumi and Fumi Handmade image on your project your name will be thrown in to the drawing one more time.  Unsure what qualifies for our challenges?  Visit the Challenge info page by clicking the tab up top.

You have until Friday, March 15th to link up your project.  Remember to use a direct link to your project and not your blog.  Those entries could possibly be deleted.

Now how about some samples from Rosie and myself?

Now what do we have for the winner?  Besides an awesome personalized badge we've come up with this prize package:

Feel free to share this picture with a link back to this post on your blog to let everyone know your playing.

The top 3 will receive a personalized badge and something new that we just added.  If you are chosen in the top 3 you'll get access to a special 10% off coupon code that you can use in the shop.

Yumi & Fumi Handmade Blog Hop & Stamp Showcase

Hello and welcome to the 1st Yumi & Fumi Handmade Crafts Blog Hop & Stamp Showcase!

We are really happy that you could take time out of your busy schedules to join us today.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

**I need to clarify a couple things, there might be confusion with the names of our business and blog so here is the correct info:
If you are refering to the business or store: Yumi & Fumi Handmade
If you are refering to the blog: Yumi & Fumi Handmade Crafts
 Thanks so much!!

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Before we begin we'd like to say a big MAHALO to everyone that has become a new friend and left us some wonderful and supportive comments.  We definitely appreciate all the support and feedback.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Today's hop is featuring the new debut release of our stamps with each designer contributing a card to share.  I am so excited for all of you to start the hop and tell us what you think.  Saturday is our release day, but you all get a sneak peek at the images starting today!  So with every blog hop there are prizes right?  Well this hop is no exception.  We will have 5 random prizes hidden throughout the hop.  Make sure to become a follower of each blog and leave a comment.  The hop will start today and end on Sunday at noon PST.  You read that right, 4 days of hopping.  Winners will be chosen randomly and announced here on Monday, July 16th.

I have one more exciting news to share with you regarding our stamps.  Renate' & I have been to many rubber stamp shows and we incorporated a lot of what stampers were saying into our stamps.  We are very proud to announce that all of our stamps are scroll cut, deeply etched red rubber on a gray cushion mount, they are indexed and made in the USA!!  What does that mean?  No more cutting up your stamps, you will be able to stamp and see the image when it's mounted on a clear block and lastly we are supporting our local stamp maker, Mr. Jim!  I'll share pictures of the rubber and indexing tomorrow.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Now hold on to your seats because you're about to meet Yumi & Fumi illustrated by our awesome illustrator, Amy Beard.  They will be debuting in their beautiful packaging courtesy of Ms. Renate' Winter.  We have a surprise for our DT team.  Little do they know, but all the colored images on the packaging were colored up by our DT!
We were blown away by their coloring that we just had to use them.
We ♥ our team!

(Because this was a surprise for them we didn't get a chance to create a list of colors used, but we will update that soon.)

Enjoy!
